Helvet Underground
A huge chocolate-brown cuckoo clock in an empty space. The door opens and two faceless figures covered in tulle appear. Hesitantly, they start to dance, take mechanical steps towards and away from each other; ever y once in a while they wave. Are they human beings? Puppets? Robots? «Helvet Underground» is a creation by the duo Coco Petitpierre and Yvan Clédat. Their work oscillates between visual and performing arts while being an almost irritating combination of both: permanent sculpture and fleeting performance. Apart from devising their own fascinating «sculptures à activer», Ivan Clédat collaborates with well- known French directors such as Philippe Quesne. (> p. 11) (esc)
