Bombino
Nomad
Bombino, the Nigerian Tuareg with an Italian nickname, grew up with
the desert blues. When he got his first guitar at the age of 13, his family fled Niger during the Tuareg rebellion. Exiled again in 2007 in Burkina Faso after having fought on the side of the Tuareg rebels, this excellent guitarist was discovered by the film maker Ron Wyman. Since the release of his first album «Agadez» and a legendary peace concert outside a mosque, Bombino has become a star beyond the boundaries of his country. His style is influenced by great guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopfler and his latest album «Nomad» was produced in Nashville. yet his music bears the unmistakable traits of his origins:
He and his band play the Tuareg blues — rocking, grungy, loud and unleashed. (ron)
