Life in Congo-Brazzaville provides the inspiration for the dancer-choreographer DeLaVallet Bidiefono’s powerful and electrifying language of movement. He returned to the Congolese capital in 2001, where, despite all the hustle and bustle, «death is at the heart of everyday life». «Dance can offer answers to the omnipresence of death», says Bidiefono about his latest creation «Au-delà» (Hereafter). Supported by the six outstanding dancers of his company and a slam poet who interprets the furious texts of Congolese author Dieudonné Niangouna, he tells how he «got involved with death» and turns this seemingly sombre subject into a sparking manifesto for life.
