In the third part of his trilogy, «Influx Controls», the South African performer and dancer Boyzie Cekwana addresses another highly topical issue: food. To have enough food and enjoy it is far too often dependent on power and privilege — not only in Africa. Cekwana’s latest work is again characterized by his unsuspected ingenuity and an esthetic radicalism with which he translates his ideas into images and movement.
He ironically announces his performance as a «a tawdry essay on the disquiet of an angry stomach grumbling at the deafening din on culinary correctness». (esc)
